How your information is kept

Many Hats keeps a working copy of your information in your browser and syncs it to your account, where it's encrypted in transit and at rest.

Where your information lives

What you enter is saved in the browser on the device you're using and synced to your account, and each computer or phone you sign in on keeps a working copy.

Synced information is encrypted when it's sent and when it's stored. Many Hats holds the key and can open it to run the service and give support, as the privacy policy sets out.

Daily safety copies keep the first save of each day for the last seven days, and any of them can be restored from Settings.

Clearing your browser's site data removes the working copy and the safety copies from that browser, and when you sign in again your information syncs back from your account.

What you send yourself

Apart from syncing to your account, information leaves the app only when you send it.

What the app keeps and what you send from it yourself A large box labeled In the app holds your tasks, notes, events and settings along with the safety copies and client notes, all synced to your account. Four dashed lines lead to a backup file, a calendar file, a message you paste into an assistant yourself, and the links you save. Each leaves only when you choose. Four things leave the app, and each one only when you choose to do it.

  • A backup file you download.
  • A calendar file you export, with your event titles, times, places and notes.
  • The message from Brainstorm with an assistant, when you paste it into an AI assistant yourself. It holds the job name, your responsibilities and, except for on-call and care work, a few project and idea titles. It leaves out your notes, tasks, people and calendar.
  • Links, email addresses and phone numbers you save, when you open them.

Client notes

The Clients tab holds notes about the clients you support. Use initials or a code in place of a full name, and keep notes to what you need.

Client notes are saved and synced with the rest of your information, and backup files include them.

Backups and new devices

Download a backup in Settings to save your information to a file, and keep the file somewhere private.

On a new computer or phone, sign in and your information syncs to it. The help article covers backup files and how to restore from one.

When a trial or subscription ends

The app stops until you renew. The pricing page covers canceling and refunds.
